     Karbalā'  is a city in Iraq, located about 105 km southwest of Baghdad, on the edge of the desert in the West of Euphrates and to the left of the Husayniyah brook. The city is situated at longitude 44 degrees 40 minutes. It is surrounded by Al-Anbar, Najaf and Babil provinces. Being close to the territory of Saudi Arabia, Karbala experiences a hot desert climate.
